Sometimes loss can cause pain. Everyone knows that. When i wrote this song i was waiting for someone, coming around to speak the words that turn this loss into gain. Like in many of my early songs the main topic is the search for something/someone to feel good with.
The decision to record the new songs at the professional audio-studio of a good friend of mine named Daniel turned out to be right. I appreciate his work so much! Just listen how he did the crispy clean sound of the drums (especially the hi-hat)! He also played the warm cosy-sounding fretless bass-guitar which really brings the wooden atmosphere into the track. Thanks also to Denis from LEU who lent me his huge LUDWIG-set. And to Jens from whom i got the snare-drum and the cymbals. And to Sarah who did some of the hand-clapping during the "because it hurts"-part.

Like A Monarch
You are slowly tearing down
the walls that i built around
my heart to protect it from
the loss that i came along
come and catch my heart before
it will fall down and burst into parts on the floor
won't you caress my heart with your words
please don't set me apart cause it hurts.
Marching in like a vast army
you are constantly conquering all of me
strolling like monarch ablaze
you appear and claim this very place
come and catch my heart before
it will fall down and burst into parts on the floor
won't you caress my heart with your words
please don't set me apart cause it hurts.
I surrender all to you
because what you say and what you do
shows me that i've been incomplete
shows me you're the one i need.
